Jagannath Rath Yatra: ‘Adapa Mandap Bije’ Of Lords Underway In Odisha’s Puri
Puri: The process of a grand entry of the sibling deities of Shree Jagannath Temple into Gundica temple in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri commenced on Thursday evening.
The Lords of Jagannath Temple, who were atop their three majestic chariots at Saradha Bali, are being escorted to Adapa Mandap of Gundicha Temple.
The deities are being taken to ‘Adapa Mandap’, also considered their birth place, in Goti Pahandi by the servitors. The ritual, known as ‘Adapa Mandap Bije,’ is now in progress.
The Adapa bije of the Trinity began around 5.30 pm and each one was taken in a goti pahandi by the servitors. The deities will stay at Gundicha temple for a week during their nine-day Rath Yatra festival.
As per rituals, proxy divinities of Madan Mohana and Ramkrushna were carried into Gundicha temple first and kept in Dakshini Ghara, a special house, followed by the majestic entry of Chakraraj Sudarshan.
Thereafter, excitement ran high as Lord Balabhadra was taken in in the revered ‘Pahandi Bije’ ceremony. Lord Balabdhadra was taken inside the Gundicha temple amid chanting of ‘Hari bol’, blowing of conches and beating of cymbals.
Subsequently, goti pahandi of Goddess Subhadra and Lord Jagannath will be undertaken and all the three sibling deities will adorn the Adapa Mandap inside Gundicha temple.
The Adapa Abadha mahaprasad will be available for devotees at the Gundicha Temple from Friday, sources said.
The pilgrim town is expected to witness a huge influx of devotees for darshan of the deities at the Gundicha Temple.
On the ninth day of the sojourn, the Lords will return to their abode in what is called ‘Bahuda Yatra’, the return car festival.
