Low Pressure Over Bay In 24 Hours, Depression By Nov 16; Check Rain Forecast For Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A possible low-pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal in next 24 hours may trigger rain in Odisha from November 15.

“The cyclonic circulation over Gulf of Thailand now lies over South Andaman Sea. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over Southeast Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours. It is likely to move westnorthwestwards and intensify into a depression over Central and adjoining South Bay of Bengal around November 16,” the India Meteorological Department said in its morning bulletin.

According to senior meteorologist Jason Nicholls, the low pressure over central Bay of Bengal can strengthen to a depression or a cyclonic storm before threatening northeast India and Bangladesh late week. Rain will return to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry by midweek, he added.

Rainfall is also expected in parts of coastal and interior pockets in Odisha under the influence of the possible system, Umashankar Das, a scientist of the regional IMD centre in the city, said.
