Mamata Banerjee Injured In Car Accident After Chopper Fails To Take Off
Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee suffered an injury on her forehead in a car accident on Wednesday.
The West Bengal chief minister was travelling from Bardhaman to Kolkata when the car she was travelling in had to urgently apply the brakes to avoid collision with another vehicle which suddenly came in front of the CM’s convoy, reported ANI.
Mamata, who was seated beside the driver, got injured as her head hit the windscreen, PTI quoted an official as saying.
The Bengal CM continued with her journey after receiving first aid. Doctors will conduct a thorough check-up in Kolkata.
The Bengal CM, who had gone to Purba Bardhaman — 102 km from Kolkata – to chair a district administrative meeting, had to return by car as her chopper could not take off due to inclement weather.
Following her party meeting, she told newspersons that Trinamool Congress will fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections alone from West Bengal.
Despite being snubbed by fellow-INDIA bloc partner TMC, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wished her a speedy recovery.
“We have just heard of the injury suffered by Mamata Banerjee-ji in a car accident. We wish her a full and speedy recovery,” Ramesh posted on X.
