Right-Wing Groups Call for Cancellation of India-Bangladesh Test Series; #BoycottBangladeshCricket Trends On Social Media

New Delhi: Various right-wing organisations have demanded a boycott of the Bangladesh cricket team in the wake of alleged violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, creating pressure on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The Hindu Mahasabha has threatened to disrupt the upcoming Test match in Kanpur.

“Hindus are being massacred in Bangladesh… temples are being destroyed,” Vice-President Jaiveer Bharadwaj stated, adding that they would oppose the India-Bangladesh cricket match in Gwalior.

Earlier, right-wing group Janajagriti Samiti demanded the cancellation of the India-Bangladesh test series, arguing that no cricket matches should happen to the Bangladesh team until atrocities against Hindus are addressed.

Lending his weight to the anti-India-Bangladesh match rhetoric, the head of powerful Dasna Devi in Uttar Pradesh, Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, has called for a boycott of the Test cricket matches that began today in M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Narsinghanand is known for inflammatory speeches against minority communities and women.

The first Test match in the two-Test match India-Bangladesh series began today in Chennai. There would be three one-day matches. These matches are planned for Chennai, Kanpur, Gwalior, Delhi, and Hyderabad.
