Hyderabad: Cyberabad police have arrested four persons, including choreographer Kanha Mohanty, who hails from Odisha, for alleged consumption and peddling of MDMA drugs.
The SOT-Cyberabad and Gachibowli Police jointly conducted an operation to crack the case on November 30 at Room No. 303, Kanha Boutique Hotel and the arrests were reported later that evening.
The others arrested include 28-year-old architect from Hyderabad Kondam Priyanka Reddy and stock market trader from Visakhapatnam Gulipalli Gangadhar (28) and job seeker from Hyderabad Ogirala Shaki (22). Gangadhar was identified as an MDMA peddler and consumer and Priyanka and Ogirala as consumers. Mohanty, originally from Bhubaneswar, was both a consumer and peddler of the drugs. He worked as a choreographer in a popular Telugu television show ‘Dhee’.
According to reports, Gangadhar and Mohanty allegedly procured MDMA and other drugs from an unidentified supplier in Bangalore at a low cost and sold them to consumers in Hyderabad. Priyanka Reddy and Shaki were caught attempting to purchase drugs from the duo during the operation.
Police seized 18 gram of MDMA drug, 1 gram of OG Kush, 7 gram of Indian Charas and 6 mobile phones from them.
The accused have been charged under Sections 8(C), 22(C), 27, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Act.
Further investigation is ongoing to identify the supplier and additional links in the drug network, reports added.
