Cuttack: Medical colleges will be set in four more districts of Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi informed on Friday.
“There are 12 medical colleges in the state. Two more colleges will be dedicated to the people very soon. These apart, the state government will set up medical colleges in four more districts of the state,” he said during the launch of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) here.
The new medical colleges will be established in Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal and Nabarangpur districts. “The state government has allocated funds for this purpose in 2025-26 Budget,” he added.
He further stated that altogether 4,000 doctors and health staff have been appointed in the state in the last 10 months. “The government is taking steps to recruit 5,000 more doctors and dentists in the coming days,” he said.
Majhi reiterated his government’s decision to set up medical colleges in all districts of Odisha. Four dental colleges will also be set up in 4 districts, he added.
The CM termed the launch of the central health scheme in the state as a historic event. He also slammed the previous govt led by Naveen Patnaik for not implementing the scheme over narrow political considerations.
