Bhubaneswar: Odisha may continue to experience thunderstorm activity, rain and gusty wind till April 20, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Wednesday.
Yellow warning of Kalbaisakhi or nor’westers, which generally strike in the afternoons or evenings, has been issued for several districts for five days.
Weather scientists have attributed this weather conditions to a cyclonic circulation over east Madhya Pradesh extending to Gangetic West Bengal across Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and a trough in westerlies from north Bihar to north coastal Andhra Pradesh, running from Sikkim to north Odisha across West Bengal and Jharkhand.

The IMD has forecast no large change in the day temperature during the next 4-5 days.
While there is no warning thereafter, light to moderate rain may continue in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Rayagada districts on April 21 and Malkangiri and Koraput on April 22 with little change in the weather conditions during the subsequent 3 days.
On Tuesday, sudden downpour had caught many residents off-guard in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Tuesday afternoon. Cuttack received 78 mm of rainfall, the highest in state on Tuesday, leading to waterlogging in several low-lying areas.
