Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda recorded the highest day temperature of 45.2°C in Odisha again on Thursday as mercury soared past 40°C at 16 places in Odisha amid the prevailing heatwave conditions.
This was a slight dip since Wednesday’s 45.4°C.
The industrial town had recorded the highest-ever temperature of 46.2°C for April and was the hottest place in the country on Tuesday. It had sizzled at 45.4°C on Monday and was the second hottest place in the country after Chandrapur in Maharashtra, which recorded 45.6°C.
The other places in Odisha where the day temperature soared to 40°C and above during the day include Boudh at 44.6°C, followed by Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Balangir at 43.6°C each, Angul at 43.5°C, Titlagarh and Balangir at 43°C each and Hirakud, Bhawanipatna, Sonepur, Nuapada and Rourkela at 42°C each, Talcher at 40.8°C, Nayagarh at 40.2°C and Paralakhemundi at 40°C.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 36°C.8 and 37°C respectively.

The heatwave conditions are likely to continue in the state for two more days. Orange warning has been sounded for Balangir and Sambalpur on April 25. Heatwave conditions may also prevail at one or two places in Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Boudh, Nuapada and Bargarh. Heatwave conditions may continue in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Boudh districts on April 26.
