Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red warning for thunderstorms and hail in six districts of Odisha till 9 pm on Monday.
Thunderstorm/lightning with surface wind speed reaching up to 50-60 kmph along with moderate rain and hail is likely to hit Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts by 8 pm. Simialr warning has been issued for Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam and Nayagarh till 9 pm.
Amid the thunderstorm activity, the weather agency has also warned of squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 kmph to 50 kmph gusting to 55 kmph along and off north Odisha coast during the next 24 hours.

It had earlier issued orange and yellow warnings for thunderstorm/lightning and strong winds accompanied by rains in 13 districts till 7 pm.
