Bhubaneswar: With nor’wester returning to Odisha, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for 13 districts till 7 pm on Monday.
Moderate thunderstorm/lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and light to moderate rain may affect some parts of Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jharsuguda and Bargarh districts in three hours.
The weather agency has warned of minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, banana trees and standing crops due to strong winds. People have advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places.
Similarly, light to moderate thunderstorm/lightning with gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph, and light to moderate rain may also occur in some parts of Sundargargh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Koraput and Kendrapada during this period.
People in these districts have been advised to keep a watch and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
