Bhubaneswar: Amid the thunderstorm activity, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday warned of squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 45 kmph to 50 kmph gusting to 55 kmph along and off north Odisha coast during the next 24 hours.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, along and off north Odisha coast, during this period.
The weather agency has issued yellow and orange warnings for thunderstorm/lightning and gusty wind till May 2. Isolated heavy rain is also likely from April 29 to May 1. The day temperature is unlikely to witness any large change across the state during the next 5 days, and thereafter rise by 2-4°C during the subsequent 2 days, it added.
Orange warning continue for 2 days for seven districts, which may see damage to plantation, standing crops and banana trees due to strong winds. Minor damage to loose/unsecured structures, vulnerable structures, kutcha houses/walls and huts may also occur.

ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.
YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapada.
There is also warning for thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Balangir.

ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50- 60 kmph, hailstorm, and heavy rainfall may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Bhadrak and Jajpur.
YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph, heavy rainfall is also likely in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul and Dhenkanal.
There is also a warning for thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
People have also been advised to keep a watch on the weather and take shelter during thunderstorm activity to protect themselves from lightning strikes. Farmers have been advised to use hail nets to protect vegetables and crops from hail.
