Bhubaneswar: Vice Chancellor (VC) of Central University of Odisha (CUO) in Koraput, Chakradhar Tripathi, has resigned from his post.
President Droupadi Murmu, in her capacity as the Visitor of Central University of Odisha, has accepted Tripathi’s resignation, the Union Ministry of Education said in a communique to the registrar of the varsity on Wednesday.
Tripathi’s resignation will be effective from May 1, it added.
Senior-most professor of CUO, Narasingha Charan Panda, has been asked to serve as V-C in-charge till the fresh appointment to the post.
In September 2022, Tripathi was appointed as the V-C of CUO in the tribal-dominated Koraput district. He was then serving as a faculty member of Hindi in Visva Bharati.
While the exact reason behind his resignation is not known, the CAG had recently found irregularities in posting of teaching and non teaching staff at the varsity.
Tripathi could not be contacted for his comments on it.
