Koraput: Three members of a family were killed and as many critically injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a roadside tree in Baipariguda area of Odisha’s Koraput district on Friday.
As per preliminary information, the mishap took place on National Highway No. 326 near Gaudguda Chhak under the jurisdiction of Baipariguda police station.
As per sources, the family members were proceeding from Nayagarh to Malkangiri when the car dashed against the tree. The impact of the crash was so severe that three persons reportedly died on the spot, while three others sustained grievous injuries.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospitals for immediate medical attention. One of them was later shifted to Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, while the other two are receiving treatment at a hospital in Baipariguda.
While the exact cause of the accident was yet to be ascertained, the crash was suspected to have occurred after the driver lost control over the wheels.
A police team visited the accident site, seized the vehicle and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
