Gunupur: Three youths died after a speeding car hit the motorcycle, which they were riding, on a bridge over the Bansadhara river in Odisha’s Rayagada district late on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Bulu Sabar and Subrat Sabar of Kaithapadar village in Gudari block and Balakrushna Araka of Jagannathpur village.
According to sources, the rear-end accident took place when the trio was returning home after attending Thakurani Yatra, a popular festival in neighbouring Tarini village. The three youths were thrown off their bike and fell at a distance under the impact of the collision. While two of them died on the spot, the other was rushed to Gunupur community health centre but succumbed during treatment.
Meanwhile, police have begun investigation and efforts are on to trace the vehicle and its driver.
