Cuttack: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has canceled leaves of engineers until May 31 in view of heavy rain forecast after formation of low-pressure system over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast.
The decision has been taken to tackle issues that may emerge due to possible heavy downpour, Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh said on Tuesday.
He also warned of action against officials if water-logging occurs in any ward of the city.
The low-pressure system is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rain in Odisha till May 31. Orange and yellow warnings have been issued for Cuttack district during this period.
Along with this, southwest monsoon may advance into some parts of the state in the next 2-3 days.
