Cuttack: Two youth drowned while bathing in the Kathajodi near Ganesh ghat in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Subham of Kaali Bazaar and Lipu Das of Mahidaj Bazaar in the city. Both aged 19 years.

According to sources, six friends had gone to the riverbank at around 1 pm to collect soil for crafting Ganesh idols. Lipu and Subham decided to take a bath and entered the river. They slipped and were swept away by strong currents.
On being informed, Fire Service personnel launched a rescue operation and retrieved the bodies from the river after a few hours. They were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital but were declared brought dead.
