Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange and yellow warnings for several districts of Odisha till 4.35 pm on Wednesday.
The weather agency has warned of rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at most places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur and Nuapada till 4.22 pm.
Yellow warning of light to moderate rain along with thunderstorm/lightning may also occur at one or two places in Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Angul, Sundargarh and Balangir.
These warnings have come even as a low-pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining areas of northwest Bay of Bengal & Gangetic West Bengal persisted over the same region this morning. It is likely to become less marked during the next 12 hours.
The IMD has forecast very heavy rainfall across the state on September 24-26-27.
