Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal in next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.
However, the system is unlikely to have any major impact on the weather in Odisha.
The low-pressure area is likely to under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining region of southeast Bay of Bengal.
The system is expected to move west-north-westwards and intensify into a depression over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.
While the system is not expected to have any direct impact on Odisha, the state is likely to experience low to moderate rainfall for the next 5-7 days due to a change in wind direction, bringing in moisture. The rainfall is expected to be accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.
