Kolkata: The Bombay High Court on Wednesday ordered an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the 2020 death case of Disha Salian, who was the former celebrity manager late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput.
A bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale pronounced the verdict. The court said the CBI should register an FIR and record the statement of the deceased’s father, Satish Salian. The court, however, said no person should be treated as an accused until and unless there was sufficient evidence.
The court ordered the Mumbai police to hand over all case papers to the CBI, reported HT. The court also ordered the CBI to make an appropriate summary report in case the investigation reveals that no case is made out. Satish Salian would have the freedom to challenge the report, the court added.
Disha had died after falling off the 12th floor of a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area. The city police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and later claimed it to be a suicide.
Satish, however, filed a petition in the high court last year alleging that his daughter was gang-raped and murdered. He also accused the police of suppressing facts to protect some influential people.
Seeking a CBI probe into her death, Satish also registered FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.
