Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced a significant increase in the stipend for postgraduate (PG) students, studying in various government Ayurvedic and Homeopathic colleges across Odisha.

According to a CMO release, the decision was taken to encourage students in the fields of Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicine. The new stipend rates will be effective from January 1, 2026, and benefit 120 PG students from both streams.

According to this decision, there has been a 55% increase in the stipend for first-year PG students. Previously, their monthly stipend was Rs 31,000, which has now been raised to Rs 48,000. For second-year students, it has increased from Rs 32,000 to Rs 52,000, marking a 62% hike. For third-year students, the stipend has risen from Rs 33,000 to Rs 55,000 per month, which is a 67% increase.

Similarly, the stipend for house surgeons in government Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medical colleges has been increased from Rs 17,000 to Rs 30,000. This will be effective from August 1 of the current year.

The Chief Minister has expressed hope that this will enable students to focus more on education and patient care, thereby providing high-quality healthcare services, it added.
