Bhubaneswar: After a long spell of intense cold wave, Odisha is expected to get considerable relief from the winter chill with the mercury set to rise from Monday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday that the minimum temperature is likely to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the state during the next three to four days.
“The minimum temperature or night temperature is likely to rise by 2-4 Degree Celsius over the districts of Odisha during the next 3-4 days,” it said in a bulletin.
As per the weather agency, dry weather is likely to prevail across the state till January 25. Some districts, including Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada may witness shallow to moderate fog during the morning hours till January 21.
During the last 24 hours, G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal district, turned out to be the coldest place in the state recording a minimum temperature of 2.8°C. In the planes, the lowest temperature of 5.8°C was recorded in Phulbani.
Cold wave conditions prevailed in some pockets of Angul and Jharsuguda, where departures from normal ranged from –5.3°C to –5.7°C, indicating a sharp deviation from seasonal averages.
