Mumbai: Veteran actor Jackie Shroff was among hundreds of celebrities who attended the final rites of legendary singer Asha Bhosle at Shivaji Park on Monday.
As he reached the venue, paparazzi asked him how he was feeling, a question that visibly upset Jackie.
Displeased with the insensitivity, Jackie firmly called them out for their inappropriate behaviour.
“Kasha vatnar, konachi aai geli tar? Aamchi aai geli hai. Kasa vatel manje, tera bolne ka matlab hai, kesa lagta hai maa kisi ki gayi to kesa lagta hai (How would it feel if someone’s mother passes away? Our mother is gone. What do you mean by asking how it feels, how does it feel when someone loses their mother?)”
After the paparazzi replied, “Bura hi lagta hai,” Jackie added, “Bas, khatam ho gaya baat. Hi time nahi re bolaycha, rahu de dada, ghari jaa. (That’s it, the matter ends there. This is not the time to say such things, let it be, brother, go home.)”

The legendary singer passed away in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92.
Her demise led to an outpouring of grief and tributes from across the film and music fraternity, with many remembering her as one of the most iconic and influential voices in Indian music history.
Her mortal remains were kept at her residence at Casa Grande, in Lower Parel, for final darshan, giving fans, well-wishers and members of the industry an opportunity to pay their last respects.
The veteran singer was accorded a Guard of Honour in the presence of family, admirers, and close associates.
Her last rites were held on Monday at the Shivaji Park crematorium at 4 pm, where she was given a final farewell with full state honours.
In a remarkable career spanning over seven decades, Asha recorded thousands of songs in multiple languages and collaborated with some of the most celebrated composers in Indian cinema.
Her legacy continues to influence the sound of Bollywood, as the industry comes together to mourn the loss of a true legend.
