Balangir: Police in Odisha’s Balangir have recovered 360 kg of ganja from an abandoned SUV on National Highway-57 under Puintala police limits.
According to polices sources, Puintala police, acting on a tip off about ganja being smuggle from Boudh region towards Chhattisgarh, put up blockades but the vehicle, bearing Chhattisgarh registration number, sped towards Balangir town. “Following a chase, the vehicle was found abandoned near the Girigobardhan Temple bypass along the Sonepur-Balangir highway. Two persons were inside the vehicle but they managed to escape. The market value of the seized ganja will be around Rs 1.5 crore,” Balangir SDPO Saroj Kumar Upadhyay told a presser on Thursday.
He further stated that the people transporting the ganja have been identified and will be nabbed soon.
