Kolkata: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has left no stone unturned to win the West Bengal Assembly election, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading from the front in an aggressive campaign against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Even on the last day of campaigning, Modi spearheaded a high-profile lineup that included Home Minister Amit Shah, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.

In the last of his numerous election rallies ahead of two-phase election in West Bengal, the Prime Minister addressed a big rally in Barrackpore on a hot Monday afternoon before holding a roadshow.

“This is my last rally in this election. I’m going back with the confidence that I will definitely attend the BJP’s swearing-in ceremony after the May 4th results,” Modi told the crowd.

“Seeing the atmosphere here, it is certain that the lotus will bloom in Bengal this time,” he expressed.

Later, Modi penned an emotional open letter to the people of West Bengal, describing his outreach in the state as spiritually uplifting and politically significant.

“Throughout the entire election campaign in West Bengal, the boundless love and blessings I have received from my family members have filled me with a new strength. Be it the youth power or the women’s power here, our farmer brothers and sisters, workers or businessmen — everyone is resolute in building a ‘Vikasito Bangla’. In this letter, I have expressed my sentiments towards them,” Modi captioned the post on X where he shared the letter alongside a collage of pictures.

Addressing “brothers and sisters of West Bengal”, Modi wrote, “Through this letter, I am expressing my feelings to every family in Bengal.”

Modi shared that he experienced a “unique strength and energy” during the campaign, did not feel fatigued despite the intense heat and back-to-back rallies. “These rallies and roadshows felt like a pilgrimage to me. Whenever I went among the devotees of Maa Kali, it seemed as if she was constantly filling me with renewed energy,” he wrote.

Modi drew a parallel with the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya in January 2024, when he had observed an 11-day ritual and fast, adding that he experienced a similar spiritual feeling during the Bengal campaign.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the emotional connect he felt with the people, saying he had received numerous messages, letters and pictures during rallies and roadshows, which he saw, read and responded to whenever he got a chance. He described the affection of youth, women, elders, and families his “greatest treasure.”

“There has been enough fear, now people want trust, now they want the BJP,” he wrote, signalling the party’s campaign message.

He said serving and securing West Bengal is his responsibility, and he will never shirk. He promised to celebrate the swearing-in of a BJP chief minister with all the people.

“Together, we will build a developed Bengal,” he concluded.

এই… pic.twitter.com/Gki1Ochc2D
