Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered a pass percentage of 98.17 in ICSE Class X examinations and 99.24 in ISC (Class XII) examinations, the results of which were declared on Thursday.
Srijit Haldar from Cuttack emerged as the state topper in the ICSE (Class 10) examinations, scoring an impressive 99.5%. In the ISC (Class 12) Yajnadatta Samantara from Berhampur topped the Science stream with 99.5%, while Garv Agarwal from Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district secured the top spot in the Commerce stream with 99%.
Srijit, a student of Stewart School in Cuttack, attributed his success to disciplined study habits and consistent preparation. The 16-year-old dedicated 10-11 hours daily to his studies and achieved a perfect score of 100 in Mathematics, Computer Science, History, and Chemistry. He also took tuitions but emphasised revising the entire syllabus of every subject at least twice before the exams. He now plans to pursue the Science stream and prepare for the NEET examination.
Yajnadatta, who studied at De Paul School in Berhampur, scored 100 marks each in Chemistry and English, and 99 in Mathematics, Biology, and Physics. Aspiring to become a scientist with a focus on Chemistry research, he revealed that he never attended any coaching centres or took tuitions. He had previously scored 92.2% in his ICSE exams.
Garv Agarwal from Nirmala English School in Rajgangpur prepared by solving hundreds of sample papers over four months, dedicating 8-9 hours of study each day. He scored 100% in both Mathematics and Economics. He is now preparing for the foundational stage of the Chartered Accountancy course.
This year, 8,948 students (4,676 boys and 4,272 girls) appeared for the ICSE exams. Girls outperformed boys slightly, with a pass percentage of 98.69% compared to 97.69% for boys. In the ISC examinations, 1,583 students (790 boys and 793 girls) appeared. Girls again performed better with a pass rate of 99.37%, while boys achieved 99.11%.
