New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will launch a series of large student conventions across the country beginning June 17, as the Congress intensifies its campaign against alleged examination irregularities and issues affecting young people.
According to Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, the first convention will be held in Kota, Rajasthan, on June 17. Similar events are scheduled in Allahabad on July 10, Patna on July 11, and Delhi on July 14. The conventions are expected to bring together students, job aspirants, youth organisations, educators and others affected by examination-related controversies.
Announcing the initiative, Venugopal said the campaign would involve extensive mobilisation efforts by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Youth Congress and party units across the country. These efforts will include campus outreach programmes, interactions at coaching centres, universities and schools, social media campaigns, live screenings and direct engagement with students.
The Congress said the movement aims to provide a platform for students and young people affected by examination failures and paper leak scandals to share their experiences and seek accountability. The party also plans to highlight demands previously raised by Rahul Gandhi, including decentralisation of the NEET examination process, abolition of examination fees, stringent action against those involved in paper leak rackets and accountability at the highest levels of government, including the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
Venugopal said that the movement seeks to unite students beyond political affiliations.
