Bhubaneswar: As part of efforts to give pace to the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the Odisha Government has decided to train ITI students in solar panel installation and maintenance.
The Skill Development and Technical Education Department has directed all Government ITIs in the state to create awareness about the scheme and encourage trainees and pass-outs to register as solar vendors.
Officials said the initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce to support the state’s target of solarizing three lakh households by 2026-27.
The move will not only boost rooftop solar adoption but also create new employment opportunities for technical youth across the state, they said.
The Energy Department has assured necessary support for vendor registration and skill development under the scheme.
