Bhubaneswar: In a tough action, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered dismissal of newly-appointed Odisha Taxation & Accounts Service (OT&AS) officer Bhimsen Tudu, who has been arrested in connection with the death of a medical student.
Tudu will not be eligible for any government job in future, a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Saturday.
It may be noted that newly-appointed OTAS officer Tudu was absent during his induction training from June 4, 2026. He also failed to appear for his last examination at the Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management (MDRAFM).
During this period, he was arrested in connection with a death case by Barang Police and sent in judicial custody. As Tudu has been in custody for more than 48 hours, he has been dismissed from government service in accordance with legal provisions, the CMO said.
It may be noted that police had arrested Tudu on June 13 for his alleged involvement in abetting the suicide of Chandrika Hembram, a 28-year-old third-year MBBS student of Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Baleshwar.
Her body was recovered on June 4 from the Kathajodi Riverbed near Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Setu under Baranga police station limits in Kataka.
Police said investigations into the case is in progress.
