Bhubaneswar: Over one crore women beneficiaries in Odisha are set to receive the next financial assistance under the state’s flagship Subhadra Yojana on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced on Monday.
Parida, who holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, reassured that eligible beneficiaries among the initial applicants, who had been left out of earlier payments, will receive all five instalments together once their status is confirmed. A review cut-off date was set to clear pending e-KYC verifications and complete field verifications for all applicants across districts. “Until now, we considered August 28 as the cut-off date at the district level. Everything related to the scheme is progressing well, and there will be no loss for anyone. If an applicant becomes eligible now, they will receive all five instalments together in one go.”
The funds will be disbursed during a state-level programme in Nayagarh, with the amount credited directly to eligible beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer system. The payout will benefit a revised total of 1,01,99,119 verified beneficiaries.
Official data shows that out of 1,15,75,633 registered applications, including 3,17,966 fresh applications submitted during the 2026–27 financial year, 1,02,04,396 women were initially identified as eligible. However, following rigorous field reviews and district-level updates, 5,277 deceased beneficiaries were removed from the official rolls.
The Odisha government has already transferred more than Rs 20,648 crore directly into the bank accounts of over one crore women through the first four instalments. Each instalment under the scheme is Rs 5,000.
Launched on September 17, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as one of the key promises of the BJP-led state government ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections, Subhadra Yojana provides financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over five years to eligible women aged between 21 and 60. The annual support of Rs 10,000 is released in two equal instalments of Rs 5,000 each, timed to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8 and Raksha Bandhan. The scheme aims to promote women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion across the state.
