Mumbai: Actor Ranveer Singh marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday with a pledge to support the education of 1,000 girls under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
The announcement came during his visit to the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Ranveer sought Lord Ganesha’s blessings at the pandal and said he hoped the initiative would please Bappa and that his blessings would continue to remain with him and his family.
“It feels really good to be here. By Bappa’s grace, the past year has been filled with happiness for my family and me. So, we have come here to thank him and seek his blessings for the journey ahead. On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and on the occasion of the birthday of our respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, I pledge to join the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and support the education of 1,000 daughters. I hope that Bappa will be pleased with this initiative and that his blessings will always remain upon us,” the actor was quoted as saying by News18.
The 41-year-old actor opted for a traditional white kurta-pyjama as he made his way through the crowded pandal. Ranveer greeted fans before offering prayers and seeking Bappa’s blessings.
His visit came amid the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai, with several Bollywood celebrities making appearances at various pandals across the city.
Ranveer also expressed his happiness after seeking blessings at the pandal.
“It’s great to be here. The past year has been filled with happiness for my family and me, thanks to Bappa’s blessings. I came here, had his darshan, and thanked him. I sought his blessings for the journey ahead,” he said.
Ranveer is reportedly among several Bollywood personalities backing the initiative.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor have also come forward to support the renovation of 20 schools across India.
On the work front, following the record-breaking success of ‘Dhurandhar’, Ranveer is currently gearing up for Jay Mehta’s ‘Pralay’.
