Agra: Three people were killed and two others injured after a car travelling from Delhi to Ballia overturned on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Agra on Saturday morning, police said.
According to police, all five occupants of the car were residents of Delhi and were travelling to Ballia for work. The accident took place at around 7:30 am in the Dauki police station area, Assistant Commissioner of Police Imran Ahmed said.
The deceased have been identified as Jaiprakash, 32, Bhupendra, 35, and Kapil, 31. The two injured men were identified as Yashwant, 33, who was driving the car, and Chandrakant, 35, who was seated in the front passenger seat.
Police said the vehicle was travelling at around 140 kmph when the driver lost control, causing it to overturn. The three passengers seated in the rear were thrown out of the vehicle and died in the accident, the ACP said.
The injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examinations, officials said. The families of both the deceased and injured have been informed.
According to NDTV report, that police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
