Hyderabad: Samantha Ruth Prabhu has called Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay her “lucky charm”, recalling their successful on-screen pairing in three hit films.
The actor, who is currently hosting Celebrity MasterChef Tamil, also praised Vijay’s work ethic and his decision to enter politics.
In an upcoming episode, during the Hero vs Villain challenge, RJ Vijay asked Samantha about her favourite star. She responded by saying that her admiration for Vijay was well known.
“He is my lucky charm. I worked with him in three superhits,” Samantha said, referring to Kaththi (2014), Theri (2016) and Mersal (2017).
All three films performed well commercially, with Mersal reportedly earning over ₹250 crore worldwide.
Samantha also reflected on Vijay’s political journey and his decision to leave cinema at the peak of his career.
“He is an inspiration as a person. Crores of fans, and to choose to be a leader, to choose governance, quiet, focused, and working so hard behind the scenes,” she said.
She added that walking away from cinema at the height of his career to enter politics was not an easy decision. Samantha also remarked that Vijay had entered politics at the right time.
