New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi concert is set to go ahead after the police granted permission for the event, a day after reportedly withholding clearance.
The approval came after the organisers agreed to comply with several conditions laid down by the authorities, including requirements related to private security personnel, crowd management and other safety arrangements.
The concert had faced uncertainty after police reportedly cited specific threat-related inputs and concerns over security and law-and-order arrangements during the festive season.
In a statement, BookMyShow Live, the concert’s ticketing partner, said, “We have held a cordial and constructive meeting with Delhi Police and presented a detailed plan addressing the required arrangements. We have assured the authorities of full compliance with all applicable security, traffic and crowd-management requirements.”
The company added that it would continue to coordinate with the police and other relevant authorities to ensure a safe and seamless experience for concertgoers while minimising inconvenience to local residents and commuters.
According to reports, a letter from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, to BookMyShow stated that the request to organise the Delhi leg of Diljit’s Aura India Tour had been examined but could not be approved at that stage.
Despite the initial setback, Diljit’s team continued to promote the October 30 concert on social media.
Following his shows across Europe and North America, Diljit announced the India leg of his Aura Tour, which is scheduled to begin in Delhi. Pre-sale tickets for the concert opened on October 6.
After the Delhi show, the tour will continue in Indore on November 15, Ahmedabad on November 21, Mumbai on November 27, Bengaluru on November 29 and Lucknow on December 5.
A Chandigarh concert has also been announced, although its date and further details are yet to be confirmed.
