Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu arrived at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj on a two-visit to Odisha on Friday evening, where she was warmly received by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Her journey, however, faced a slight delay due to adverse weather conditions. Originally slated to land at Dandbose Airstrip in the afternoon, the President instead traveled by road from Kalaikunda Airbase in neighbouring West Bengal. Her convoy proceeded through Bangiriposhi and Bishoi, arriving in Rairangpur approximately two hours behind schedule.
Elaborate security and administrative arrangements were made along the route and at all programme venues.
During her stay, President Murmu is set to inaugurate several key public welfare and infrastructure initiatives aimed at benefiting local communities, particularly in health, water supply, and administration. These include a medical camp organised by AIIMS Bhubaneswar, a mega integrated rural piped water supply project serving mining-affected villages in Kusumi block, Matrushakti Bhawan of the Brahma Kumaris, a new special circuit house, and the newly established Rairangpur Police District.
The visit holds special personal significance, as June 20 marks President Murmu’s 68th birthday, which she will celebrate in her native place. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to join her in Rairangpur for a major public function celebrating the completion of two years of the BJP-led government in Odisha. The event is expected to feature the inauguration and foundation-laying of multiple development projects worth several thousand crore rupees.
