Hyderabad: Allu Arjun, who is accused in the case related to the death of a woman during a screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ in Hyderabad in 2024, has been summoned by the Nampally Court.
The actor has been asked to appear in person on June 22 for a hearing in connection with the ongoing proceedings related to the tragic incident.
“Nampally Court has issued a summons to actor Allu Arjun to appear in person before the court on Monday for a hearing. We will give more details later about the matter,” the actor’s legal team told ANI.
The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, during a special screening of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ at Sandhya Theatre.
A large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor, who had arrived with his family and members of the film’s team for the special screening.
In the rush, 35-year-old Revathi lost her life, while her eight-year-old son Sritej sustained serious injuries and had to be hospitalised.
The actor was arrested on December 13 and granted interim bail a day later.
The police filed the chargesheet on December 24, naming the actor as accused number 11.
A total of 23 people, including theatre officials, members of the actor’s security team and others, were listed as accused in the case by Chikkadapally Police.
Following the tragedy, producer Allu Aravind, the actor’s father, announced financial assistance of Rs 2 crore for the victim’s family and support for Sritej’s medical treatment.
Members of the ‘Pushpa 2’ team and Telangana government also extended their support.
Months after the tragedy, Sritej’s father Bhaskar said he was facing financial hardship as he cared for his son and alleged that repeated attempts to reach Allu and his team had gone unanswered.
Amid the criticism directed at the actor, Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) chairman and producer Dil Raju met the family and said the matter had been resolved.
In response, Allu’s team released a statement saying that the actor had already provided Rs 3.20 crore to the family, including Rs 1.5 crore in a fixed deposit in Sritej’s name.
In May this year, Allu’s father met the family and assured them of continued support.
