Chennai: Ahead of the release of his much-awaited film ‘Jana Nayagan’, actor-turned-politician Vijay has broken his silence on the ongoing CJP protests.
On Wednesday, the Tamil superstar took to X to voice his support for the protesting students and call for the abolition of the NEET examination.
“As far as the NEET examination is concerned, TVK’s uncompromising stand is that the NEET examination system should be abolished entirely. We will never make false promises or indulge in vote-bank politics over the NEET issue. The examination has caused immense hardship not only to students but also to their families,” Vijay wrote in Tamil.
He added, “If examinations like NEET are to be abolished, education must first be moved back to the State List. That alone can provide a permanent solution. If there are any legal or constitutional hurdles in doing so, then, as an interim measure, a Special Concurrent List should be created to grant greater powers to state governments. Through this mechanism, states should be given full authority over education, including medical education.”
Vijay concluded his statement by urging the Union government to scrap NEET, saying that abolishing the examination was the only way forward.

Vijay’s statement comes hours before the release of his final film, ‘Jana Nayagan’.
The film was originally scheduled to arrive in theatres on January 9, 2026, but its release was subsequently postponed amid certification-related concerns.
Following complaints alleging that certain scenes depicted religious sentiments and the armed forces in an objectionable manner, the film was referred to a Revising Committee.
Earlier this month, ‘Jana Nayagan’ received an ‘A – Adult Only’ certificate.
