Bhubaneswar: Representatives of the Adani Group on Thursday presented detailed investment plans to Odisha Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo, signalling the conglomerate’s interest in committing ₹1.5 lakh crore to the state’s clean energy ecosystem.
The meeting was held at Kharavel Bhawan.
Adani officials outlined proposals that include two 3,000 MW nuclear power plants, 2,400 MW of ultra-supercritical (USC) thermal capacity, and pumped storage projects (PSPs) aimed at delivering reliable, low-emission baseload power. The group is already developing a 1.80 GW pumped storage project in Nayagada district.
The proposed investments are positioned as supporting India’s Net Zero 2070 goals and are expected to draw on enabling legislation such as the SHANTI Act 2025. Officials indicated the projects could create more than 22,000 direct and indirect jobs while significantly expanding Odisha’s power generation capacity.
Senior state officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Kumar Dev, OPTCL Chairman and Managing Director Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, GRIDCO Managing Director Dr Satyapriya Rath, and officers from the Energy Department, OPGC, OHPC and GRIDCO, along with representatives from Adani Power Limited, were present.
