Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena’s resignation, another young IPS officer, who was allotted Odisha cadre after clearing the civil services exam last year, has sought to quit government service.
C A Ramdas, a 33 year old IPS probationer of 2025 batch, has tendered his resignation while undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, official sources said on Saturday.
The young officer, who hails from Maharashtra, was recently allotted Odisha cadre. He is still in the first phase of training in Hyderabad and yet to serve in Odisha.
His resignation has been received. He is still in the first phase of training and yet to undergo any field posting in Odisha, Director General of Police Y B Khurania was quoted by media as saying. However, the reason behind his decision is not known.
The development comes days after the resignation of Jagmohan Meena, a 2013-batch IPS officer. Meena cited personal reasons for stepping down from service, although his resignation is yet to receive formal approval from the competent authority.
The back-to-back resignations of two young Odisha-cadre IPS officers within such a short span have drawn attention in administrative circles. While the reasons behind the two exits appear to be unrelated, the unusual development has sparked discussions within the police establishment.
