Southampton (England): Traffic snarls are a nuisance not only in some Indian cities, they happen in the UK too.
So much so that it can delay an international cricket match as well!
Team India experienced that on Saturday in Southampton, venue for their fifth and final T20 International against England.
Generally, cricket teams arrive at the ground about an hour before the toss. On Saturday, England players reached the ground on time, but Shreyas Iyer & Co. were held up by heavy traffic en route from the hotel to Rose Bowl stadium.
The toss, scheduled to take place at 6.30 pm IST, was delayed by 45 minutes after the Indian team finally arrived at the stadium. The game itself will start half an hour late, at 7.30 pm IST.
It’s an inconsequential match in the context of the series as England lead 3-0 after the first game was washed out.
The men in blue, who are two-time defending world champions, have been well below par in the ongoing series. They will be playing for pride ahead of the three-ODI series.
