Mumbai: An old interview of actor and model Muzammil Ibrahim has resurfaced on social media, reigniting discussion about his past claims regarding dating and dumping actress Deepika Padukone.
In the interview with Siddharth Kannan in 2025, Ibrahim claimed that he dated Deepika before she rose to stardom in Bollywood and said that he was the one who ended the relationship, and has no regrets.
“We dated for two years. I was the first guy she met in Bombay and vice versa. It was my first actual relationship. Deepika proposed to me first. We broke up because I left her, but I don’t regret it. I never regret leaving anyone. Plus, I was a star at that time; she was not. She was a model, but I had become an actor already,” he said.
When asked if he remained in touch with Deepika after their breakup, he replied, “Before she got married, we would talk sometimes.”
Ibrahim also claimed that he and Deepika remained on good terms and would congratulate each other on their achievements.
According to him, they eventually lost touch after Deepika married Ranveer Singh.
Deepika, however, has never publicly acknowledged or spoken about dating Ibrahim.
Following the video’s resurfacing on social media, many of Deepika’s fans criticised Ibrahim, accusing him of using the actress’ name to gain attention.
Taking a dig at Ibrahim, one fan wrote, “Thanks for leaving her!! God blessed her with best!”
“What’s there to talk about now😂? Now she is famous, happily married and soon to be the mother of two. I used to like him but after this interview lol no more,” added another.
Deepika and Ranveer got married in November 2018. The couple welcomed their first child in September 2024 and are expecting their second child.
