Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will be travelling to Hyderabad in Telangana on Thursday to attend an investors’ summit to forge critical industrial partnerships and attract investments.

The event is being organised by the Industries department on December 18-19, focussing on key sectors including automotive components, IT and electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), chemicals, green energy, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Speaking to the media, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain on Wednesday said that the CM lead the high-level investors’ roadshow in Hyderabad on December 19, and will be accompanied by a delegation from the Industries department during the trip. “He will have one-on-one meetings with investors and also attend a road show. The summit will play a crucial role in drawing fresh investments to the state,” he noted.

There will a roundtable discussion with senior executives of major companies, exploring expansion and new investment destinations. The state will also showcase its industrial parks, land availability, skilled workforce, policy incentives and single-window clearance mechanisms aimed at facilitating ease of doing business.

Swain further stated that the Mohan Majhi government has been tirelessly working towards positioning Odisha as a preferred destination for businesses and generating employment opportunities for the youths of the state. “Measures are being implemented to foster the growth of industries and infrastructure in Odisha,” he added.

This follows the recent success of the first Odisha Pharma Summit 2025 during which the state secured investment intents to the tune of Rs 7,043 crore. A record 69 MoUs, including 32 in the pharmaceutical sector with proposed investments of Rs 2,681 crore, 12 in medical technology and devices with Rs 582 crore and one for a pharma park entailing investment of Rs 3,000 crore, were signed. These proposed projects are expected to generate nearly 45,000 jobs.

Majhi also launched the Odisha Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Policy-2025, which provides a comprehensive framework—including infrastructure development, investment facilitation, research and development, skill development, and targeted incentives for pharmaceuticals and medical devices manufacturing—to build a globally competitive, innovation-led, and employment-oriented life sciences ecosystem in the state.

Hyderabad, known as India’s pharmaceutical capital, makes it a strategic location for outreach in the pharma sector, complementing Odisha’s broader diversification efforts.

The state has also been aggressively promoting IT growth through its IT Policy 2025, which includes plans to develop Bhubaneswar as a Fintech City, establish digital hubs in tier-II cities, and attract investments in semiconductors, data centres, and global capability centres.
