New Delhi: Having lost their first two matches of IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians were desperate to get a win on board.
The five-time champions did achieve that victory, over Delhi Capitals at Ferozeshah Kotla on Tuesday night, but just by the skin of their teeth.
Skipper Rohit Sharma was a relieved man, after having played a Man-of-the-Match-winning 65 — his first half-century of the season. Soon after the nerve-stopping last-ball win, Rohit called up wife Ritika Sajdeh to share his emotions.
In a video shared by Mumbai Indians, Rohit tells Ritika that she will get the (Man of the Match) trophy for ‘Sammy’, nickname for their four-year-old daughter Samaira.
Ritika and Samaira, who had not travelled to Delhi, watched the game from their Mumbai home.
Talking about the close game, Rohit revealed that his nails are gone and he didn’t want to see the last over.
“I was screaming so loudly. My voice is completely gone. It was a crazy game,” Ritika is heard saying.

Mumbai needed just 5 runs to win in the final over, but some brilliant yorkers by Delhi’s South African Anrich Nortje allowed 3 runs in the first 5 balls.
With 2 needed off the final delivery to win and 1 to tie, Tim David drove to long-off and ran for his life to complete a risky second run with a desperate dive.
Mumbai will return home for their next match, against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 16.
