Bhubaneswar: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has deployed its AI powered robotic security platform “DSC ARJUN” (Dedicated Security Chassis Advanced Railway Junction Under Network Enabled Surveillance) at Puri Railway Station to enhance passenger safety during the Rath Yatra festivities.
With lakhs of devotees arriving for Bahuda Yatra, Suna Besha and Adharapana, Puri Railway Station is witnessing exceptionally heavy passenger movement. To strengthen security and surveillance during this period, DSC ARJUN has been deployed to assist RPF personnel in monitoring station premises and promoting passenger safety awareness, East Coast Railway (ECoR) said on Friday.
The AI enabled robotic platform conducts continuous surveillance across platforms, circulating areas, waiting halls and other key passenger locations while disseminating important safety messages through its integrated public announcement system. It advises passengers on safe boarding and deboarding, safeguarding personal belongings, avoiding trespassing, maintaining orderly movement and following railway safety guidelines.
Powered by Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, DSC ARJUN serves as a force multiplier for the RPF. Its advanced capabilities include AI based facial recognition, real time crowd analytics, passenger headcount, unattended baggage detection, suspicious activity detection, live video streaming, public announcements and instant alert generation. These features enhance situational awareness, support faster decision making and strengthen preventive, technology driven railway security.
The deployment of DSC ARJUN at Puri Railway Station reflects ECoR’s continued focus on leveraging cutting edge technology to enhance passenger safety and operational efficiency during major religious events.
By complementing the vigilance of RPF personnel with intelligent surveillance and real time analytics, the platform is helping ensure a safer, smarter and more secure travel environment for devotees visiting Puri during Rath Yatra, officials said.
