Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan is set to return as the host of the much-loved quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ with its upcoming 18th season.
The new season is expected to bring back the actor’s iconic hosting style, along with fresh questions, new contestants and the chance for participants to win big.
The filming of Indian television’s most popular quiz show is set to begin on August 1, 2026, at a dedicated set in Mumbai’s Film City.
The upcoming season will also introduce a new theme, with ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ adopting the tagline, “Is Baar… Sochna Padega.”
While knowledge has always been at the heart of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, Season 18 will place greater emphasis on the importance of thinking before locking in a final answer.
The new season will focus on how contestants analyse a situation, weigh their options and ultimately make informed decisions.
Recently, Sony Entertainment Television unveiled a new promo featuring Amitabh on a golf course.
Drawing a parallel between golf and life, the promo highlights how patience and sound judgment can sometimes matter more than quick action.
Through the promo, Amitabh emphasises the importance of not rushing to accept the first answer as the right one and encourages viewers to take a moment to think, analyse the situation and then make a decision.
“Bachpan main humein sikhaya gaya tha ki jo pehle jawab de, sabse sahi wahi hai. Lekin zindagi mein kai baar, pehla jawab hi sahi nahi hota. Toh is baar KBC mein, jawab dene se pehle khud ko zara rokna padega. Nahi samjhe? Is baar… sochna padega. (As children, we were taught that the one who answers first is the one who is right. But in life, many a time, the first answer isn’t the right one. So this time on KBC, before giving your answer, you’ll have to pause for a moment. Didn’t get it? This time… you’ll have to think.. Sochna Padega,)” said Big B.
The promo suggests that this season will test more than just the contestants’ knowledge, with their ability to think carefully and make sound decisions also expected to play a key role.
The new season is set to premiere on August 10, 2026.
The show will air from Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and will also be available for streaming on Sony LIV.
