Rupal lived at her flat in a plush housing society of Andheri with her sister and her boyfriend who had gone to their hometown a few days ago, according to news reports. Police are interrogating a 40-year-old sweeper in the society, in connection with the air hostess’s murder.

The main accused, Vikram Atwal, has been arrested and the security cameras in the housing society are also being scanned for any clue,” police said.

About 12 teams had been formed to trace the accused, they said.  Police are also questioning Vikram Atwal’s wife who also works as a housekeeper in the society, they said.

Rupal’s family members had asked her friends in Mumbai to check on her after she did not answer their calls on Sunday. When her friends went there, they found the flat locked from inside. They then informed the police. The officials broke into the flat and found Rupal lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival, NDTV reported.
