Alarming Rise In Local Contact Cases In Odisha’s Nayagarh; COVID-19 Tally Crosses 700

Nayagarh: The COVID-19 tally in Nayagarh district surged to 721 on Tuesday with an overnight addition of 31 new patients and all of them are local contact cases.

The district has reported more number of local contacts in the last few days, triggering panic among the people about the spread of the virus.

Of the 214 cases identified since July 26, 213 are the local contact cases.

According to the district administration tweets, 21 local contact cases and one quarantine case were detected on August 2 while all 33 cases on July 31 were local contacts. A record 67 such cases were reported on July 30. Ranapur alone saw 12 of the 24 local contact cases on July 29. Another 29 such cases were reported on July 28. The district reported eight new coronavirus cases on July 26 and all of them were local contact cases.

The administration has not tweeted details of the cases on August 1 and July 27.

In the last 24 hours, the highest of 12 cases have been reported from Nayagarh, followed by six from Khandapada and five from Ranapur.
