Rourkela: An alert lineman helped avert a major train mishap and save many lives in Rourkela on Sunday.
Sources said lineman Ramashraya Das rushed with a red flag on noticing cracks on a railway track near K cabin at Bondamunda diesel colony in the Steel City. The Tatanagar-Alleppey Express, which was coming from Rourkela, halted on seeing his alarming signal.
On being informed, railway engineers rushed to the spot. The train moved only after the cracks were fixed. Permanent repair work is now on.
