New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday unveiled a sweeping organisational overhaul under its president Nitin Nabin, bringing several senior leaders back into key national roles while introducing fresh faces ahead of upcoming assembly elections while driving the party’s nation-building agenda forward.
Among the most prominent appointments, former Union Minister Smriti Irani made a high-profile return to the party’s top leadership structure as a National General Secretary representing Uttar Pradesh. Besides Smriti Irani, the seven other national general secretaries include Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Dr Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.
In a significant change, Amit Malviya, who had headed the BJP’s IT cell for more than a decade, has been replaced by Deepak Mhaskey from Chhattisgarh. Anil Baluni continues as media-in-charge (or media convenor), with additional co-convenors appointed for media and social media roles.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has been named the BJP’s national treasurer, with Rajesh Mangal of Rajasthan appointed as national joint treasurer. B L Santhosh retains his influential post as national general secretary (organisation), supported by Shivprakash and Saudan Singh as national joint general secretaries (organisation).
Notably, six of the vice-presidential slots have been designated to female leaders, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Rekha Verma, and former Union Minister Dr Bharti Pravin Pawar. The roster of national vice presidents also saw the return of former National General Secretary Ram Madhav, alongside other prominent figures such as former Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat, Odisha leader Baijayant Jay Panda, Andhra Pradesh politician D Purandeshwari, Punjab leader Manpreet Singh Badal, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Lal Singh Arya, M Nagaraja, Prof Tariq Mansoor, and Dr Madhuchandra Kar.
The party has inducted 16 leaders into the role of national secretary, integrating several recent high-profile inductees into key party functions. The new team of secretaries features former AAP leader Dr Sandeep Pathak, alongside Anil Antony, Rohan Gupta, Kavita Patidar, K Surendran, Dr Bhola Singh, Dr Pradip Varma, Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel, Phangnon Konyak, Sangeeta Yadav, Dr M Venkateshan, Manoj Tigga, Siddharth Shambhu, Dr Swadesh Singh, Mriganka Deb Barman, and Jai Prakash.
Besides Baijayant Panda, Odisha MP from Puri Sambit Patra has been appointed as the North-East coordinator of BJP.
Commending the new organisational blueprint, party president Nitin Nabin expressed confidence that the experienced team, acting under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would give fresh momentum to the party’s mission toward a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
