New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Rs 5,000-crore Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh. This is a significant infrastructure project for the state.
It can handle six million passengers annually, reported India Today. The airport has been planned for future expansion to a capacity of 40 million passengers in a year. The new airport is located in Vizianagaram district. It is likely to be a growth driver for the North Andhra region.
It has been equipped with advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Airside 4.0 technologies, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC) and biometric passenger processing systems, according to reports.
