Anjana Mishra Gang Rape: Why Did CBI Meet Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi In Bhubaneswar?

Bhubaneswar: A CBI team met Twin City Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi on Tuesday in connection with the Anjana Mishra gang rape case.

While the central agency, which is investigating the case, called it a courtesy visit, sources said the team sought details to carry forward its probe.

The CBI is probing the sensational case, but had failed to lay its hands on the prime accused for the last 22 years.

The prime accused, Bibekananda Biswal alias Biban, was nabbed by Odisha Police with the help of their Maharashtra counterparts.

On Monday, the CP had informed that an operation ‘Silent Viper’ was launched to trace Biban three months ago and a special team led by Badambadi police station IIC Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra left for Mumbai on February 19 to arrest him.

Odisha police launched the operation along with Maharashtra police. “The cops got to know about a person named Jalandhar Swain, who worked in Aamby Valley as a plumber and stayed in staff quarters two-and-a-half km away,” he said.

He was living there with a fake identity and address. On seeing us, he tried to flee but was nabbed and brought to Odisha, the CP had said.
